Gold Medal

In 2008 the Fellows of the Society agreed to create a Gold Medal to recognise the achievements of a scholar who has made distinguished contributions to the field of clinical oncological imaging, through his or her publications, teaching, work for development of oncological imaging, or a combination of these.

Nomination Process

Recipients must be a Fellow or member of Society and can be drawn from any of the scientific disciplines represented in the Society. Nominations for the medal are made by the Trustees and voted on by the full Fellowship. The medal is awarded at the Society’s annual general meeting or annual teaching course.

Gold Medal

2025 Winner of the ICIS Gold Medal

Professor Rosemarie Forstner, Austria

The 2025 Gold Medal was presented to Professor Rosemarie Forstner during the ICIS 2025 annual teaching course in The Hague, in recognition of her outstanding career and excellence in international education, as well as extensive publications of scientific papers, book chapters and editing books. 

Professor Forstner, who is Associate Professor of Radiology at the Uniklinikum Salzburg, Paracelsus Medical University, has been a Fellow of ICIS for many years. During that time she has contributed greatly to the Society’s educational activities, as well as serving as a Trustee and a member of the Executive Board. Her international career includes many leading roles, including former President and Honorary Member of the Austrian Radiological Society, founding member and former Chair of the European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) Female Pelvic Imaging Working Group.
